U Pick 6

Posted By Kate on May 26, 2009

U Pick 6Chad and I decided to head over to the newly opened U Pick 6 store yesterday and we were pleasantly surprised with what we saw and tasted.

There’s a cozy bar to saddle up to, some high-top tables to sit at, a lounge area complete with plush couches, and of course, lots of beer and beer paraphernalia not only for one’s visual enjoyment, but also for sale.

The tap currently includes Guinness, Belhaven Scottish Ale, Rogue Shakespeare Stoudt, Gulden Draak, Lindemans Lambic Framboise, Dogfishead 60 Minute, Troegs Nugget Nectar, Southern Tier Unearthly IPA, Saranac Pale Ale, Yuengling Chesterfield Ale, Sierra Nevada Summerfest, and Miller Lite.  Many of the specific glassware was used to serve each beer (and eventually all of them will be available to use and to buy).

The variety of beer available is great, but has room to grow according to owner, Russell Stachewicz, Jr.; he had to cut his initial order in half due to the high volume of variety that was overtaking the coolers.  Since the first shipment, he’s made room for more, so he plans to offer much more in the future.  Starting today, UP6 will be offering food and we’re curious to take a bite out of that, so anyone who does, please let us know by leaving a comment on the site!

With a sign in book for which to put your name, email, location, and beer preferences, it seems that they are moving in the right direction of listening to its newlyfound customers.

U Pick 6 is open 7 days a week from 11am – Midnight.

Please see the pictures below for a quick tour and go check it out for yourself – tell ‘em ErieBrewed sent ya!

  1. Stopped in today & WOW—pleasant surprise! I was met with a great view of the selection of taps.A good & soon to be better beer selection–mix a sixer, buy one at a time, make a request & they will try to get it.This place is heaven & gonna be busy! Check it out! I took home a couple blue Chimay’s–life is good.

  2. Excellent atmosphere! Had a Chimay on draft (as well as a Troegs and Southern Tier). Chimay poured slow with little head, but was an excellent drink. Just an FYI, most people don’t realize that the Belgians do not produce much head on draught, due to the natural ingredients that are added.

  3. Looks like a great place — Can’t wait to check it out!

  4. Chimay is back on tap!

  5. Awesome place! Super selection on tap, I had Rogue’s Shakespeare Stout, YUM. This will always be a stop for me anytime I’m in Erie. Great sandwiches by the way! Can’t wait to come back and build another sixer or two!

  6. Great place!!! Finally a place in Erie to get craft beer from all over the country. Thanks Russ!

  7. Incredible draft selection & great atmosphere. Knowledgeable staff producing skilled pours of the highest quality draft brews.
Their “Pick 6″ program allows you to mix-and-match from a gigantic array of high-end (and not so high-end) beers to maximize variety. The 4/6 pack & single beer stock exceeds any local 6-pack store or super market. And the beer is always stored and handled with the best of care.
If you’re looking for a great place to sit down, relax have a couple drafts & maybe a sandwich and take a few home with you, this is THE place to go!
    - Oh and by the way, the Corned Beef is the best I’ve tried in Erie. Highly recommended…
